The Wii price drop was in full force for the month of October, helping the console reclaim its place as the top-seller. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 both dipped significantly from their own price drop booms, but the PS3 still managed to edge out Microsoft’s console. With price parity and strong line-ups, we may see the two high-definition systems trade spots for the foreseeable future, which would put Sony in a comfortable place of sustained adoption. After a slightly more optimistic September for the industry, hardware sales dipped back down 23% year-over-year. Still, part of that gloomy-seeming news comes from comparing it to stellar previous years.
