British Retailer GAME to Close 127 Stores By 2013’s End

Store closures had already been planned by GAME, but following the release of financial figures that saw a 27% drop in profits, it was announced today that an additional 127 stores in the U.K. will be closed by the end of 2013. The announcement coincided with that both the Executive Officer and Operating Officer would be departing from the company. “We continue actively to review our UK store base, with a view to minimizing store overlap and maximizing opportunities from lease expiries, breaks and rent reviews,” GAME chairman Peter Lewis said in a statement (via MCV UK ). “Operationally we have continued to derive benefits from the integration of GAME and Gamestation.
